Training, Editing & Coaching
I’ve trained dozens of young and citizen journalists in health reporting, many of whom have gone on to garner national awards or become health editors themselves.
I’m proud to have partnered with organisations such as John Hopkins University, Global Health Strategies and FrayIntermedia to train journalists on topics such as tuberculosis, HIV, as well as sexual and reproductive health and rights.
Here’s what some of my former journalists and colleagues have said about working with me:
She’s just so awesome! I don’t envy people who’ve never had the chance to work with her 💫

She is the machine. Indeed we learnt a lot from her, we were very fortunate to have being part of the people who contributed to our careers.

Trainings and Reporting Guides
In 2018, I wrote and managed the production of a definitive guide to abortion reporting for South African journalists. The guide was picked up by the International Campaign for Women’s Rights to Safe Abortion and the Fundación Gabriel García Márquez para el Nuevo Periodismo
In 2019, my training materials were incorporated into a guide for citizen journalism produced by Health-e News and Sonke Gender Justice. I’m also a frequent guest lecturer to journalism and public health students via my alma mater Northwestern University.
